Since 2012, Greenville Public Schools has offered a Mandarin language immersion program that gives students a unique opportunity to become bilingual while gaining a deeper understanding of Chinese culture. Beginning in Kindergarten, students can continue their studies throughout middle and high school, building language skills year after year.

Through a partnership with Western Michigan University, students who complete the program may earn college credits at no cost and even graduate with a college minor in Mandarin. Beyond language learning, the program helps students broaden their global perspective and explore future career paths.

The GHS Class of 2025 proudly included the first graduates of the Greenville Public Schools Chinese Immersion Program, marking an exciting milestone for both the students and the community.

Now, a new endowment fund at the Greenville Area Community Foundation aims to ensure the program continues to grow and thrive for years to come. The Greenville Public Schools Mandarin Immersion Fund was established to generate ongoing support and provide grant funding for K-12 students in the Chinese Immersion program.
