Peggy Ham loved many things. Reading, cooking, traveling, boating, dancing, and spending time with her family and friends were some of her favorites. And Peggy also loved her community.
“Peggy and I raised our children in the Greenville community and watched them graduate,” her husband Bill shared. “They went on to higher education, and we’ve enjoyed watching their growth over the years. Peggy and I always felt that Greenville has given our family a wonderful and caring place to live. Now, we’re in a position to give back.”
That sense of gratitude led to a newly established endowment at GACF.
“Upon Peg’s death, it was our wish to give to the GACF,” Bill explained. “We wanted to honor her wishes and establish the William T. and Peggy Ham Community Fund.”
As a former member of the GACF Board of Trustees, Bill knew it was important to have flexible funding to meet community needs, so they chose to make their Fund unrestricted.
“I always remembered the need for unrestricted funds,” Bill shared, “to allow the board to make grants as needed at the time of request.”

And for Bill, the power of giving lies in its shared benefit: a stronger community and a personal connection to its success.
“It allows the giving family to be involved and encourages civic engagement. We wanted to be a small part of that through this Fund.”
Together, Peggy and Bill’s commitment to community will live on through the William T. and Peggy Community Fund, making a lasting difference in Greenville. To give a gift, or to learn more about the Fund, click here.
