Behind every grant is important work happening in our community. The GACF Board of Trustees conduct site visits to gain firsthand insight into the work of local nonprofits. These visits provide opportunities to learn more about community needs, strengthening our grantmaking and ensuring donor generosity continues to make a meaningful difference. Here are some of our highlights:

Habitat for Humanity Transition House

A new transitional housing facility is opening this month and GACF Trustees were able to visit the project in the early renovation stages. Developed by Habitat for Humanity, the home will provide a safe, supportive place for future Habitat homeowners to live while they prepare for long-term success through budgeting and financial fitness training. Families will remain in the transitional home while partnering with Habitat to build their permanent residence. The Greenville Area Community Foundation (GACF) supported this effort with a grant toward renovation expenses.

My Community Dental Center

Trustees boarded the Greenville Church of God bus and took a field trip to see the My Community Dental Center (MCDC) location in Sidney. During the visit, they toured the state-of-the-art facility and learned how MCDC expands access to high-quality dental care for individuals and families at an affordable cost. This essential service plays a vital role in supporting the overall health of our community. MCDC receives annual grant funding through the Montcalm Healthy Smiles Fund Designated Fund at GACF.

Tabitha Farms

Tabitha Farms is a new “giving farm” serving the Greenville community. The organization is dedicated to providing fresh eggs and produce to local food distribution sites, helping address food insecurity in meaningful, tangible ways. Trustees toured the chicken coop and growing spaces on the farm, learning about farm operations. GACF has supported Tabitha Farms through two grants, funding essential coop supplies and chicken feed, as well as garden startup needs such as seeds, irrigation, tools, and a hoop house.

Greenville Area Recreation and Community Center

Trustees visited the Greenville Area Recreation & Community Center (GARCC) to see the impact of two grants supporting upgrades to the facility’s theater lighting. The project replaced outdated equipment with modern LED lighting, improving energy efficiency, performance quality, and overall functionality of the space. The visit offered a firsthand look at how these enhancements will better support community programming and performances for years to come.

Clay Street Adult Day Center

GACF Trustees toured the newly renovated rehabilitation room at Clay Street Adult Day Center, an update made possible through a GACF grant. As membership grew, the organization needed a larger space for member exercise and recreational activities. Clay Street provides in-demand services, helping seniors continue to live at home, remain as independent as possible, and have full, meaningful lives.
