Long before public services existed, neighbors relied on one another to provide assistance and care. While much has changed over the years, that spirit of looking after those around us remains at the heart of a thriving society.
That principle inspired Bruce Vandegrift to establish a fund benefiting Clay Street Center, an adult day center in Greenville. The Bruce D. Vandegrift Designated Fund will be a permanent charitable resource for the organization, reflecting a simple but enduring belief: strong communities are built when people invest in one another.
“I have been fortunate enough to have been able to contribute my time and talent in various ways since we moved here in 2000. I still have much to give but I have found a way to continue to contribute far into the future,” Vandegrift shared, “Our Community Foundation allows me to be able to be a part of their mission: “For good. For ever.” It feels great to be a part of that legacy, even in a small way.”
Located in Greenville, Clay Street Center provides a safe and friendly environment for Montcalm County seniors needing assistance. As a nonprofit organization, they rely heavily on donations to provide services, which range from health and recreation to personal hygiene, meals, and socialization. Sally Fox Bolek is the Co- Founder and Director of the organization.
“The Bruce D. Vandegrift Designated fund will provide reliable, consistent funding for Clay Street Center, especially as the need for our services increases, Fox Bolek said, “Enabling older adults to continue living at home with an enriched quality of life is a service many of us may need in the future. We are deeply grateful for Bruce’s generous donation and foresight in establishing an endowment fund at GACF for Clay Street Center.”
