Program Coordinator Position Details

  • Compensation: $22-$25 per hour, estimated 25 hours per week

  • Reports To: Senior Director of Philanthropic Impact

For more than three decades, the Greenville Area Community Foundation has helped people make a lasting difference in the communities they call home. Founded by local leaders with a vision for permanent community philanthropy, GACF serves to connect individuals with the causes they care about, stewarding charitable funds to provide grants to nonprofits, scholarships to students, and resources that create opportunities. Since 1989, GACF’s service area has grown to encompass the entire Montcalm County area through our geographic affiliate funds. Together with our donors and community partners, we are committed to enhancing the quality of life in the greater Greenville area.

Position Description

The Program Coordinator will provide administrative and programmatic support for the Foundation’s programs. This position serves as the primary resource for applicants, nonprofit organizations, and community partners by providing exceptional customer service, technical support, and program guidance. Working closely with the Director of Philanthropic Impact, this position plays a key role in ensuring programs are administered efficiently and in alignment with the Foundation’s policies and best practices.

Essential Responsibilities

Grants and Scholarships

  • In coordination with the Director of Philanthropic Impact, build and maintain grant and scholarship applications
  • Track requests through their lifecycle and manage phases, including award processing, payment requests, and related documentation
  • Develop and cultivate strong working relationships with applicants, recipients, and partners to provide guidance and support
  • Enter, maintain, and verify program data to ensure accurate records for reporting, stewardship, and organizational planning
  • Support documentation of workflow processes and procedures
  • Assist with award presentations as needed
  • Collect student stories, final reports, and other impact information to support stewardship and communications
  • Maintain the designated grantmaking calendar
  • Coordinate committees for grant and scholarship review
  • Collaborate with community partners for joint grant initiatives

Greenville Youth Advisory Council (GYAC)

  • Prepare and reserve meeting space and attend meetings as requested
  • Assist GYAC Advisors with form distribution, reporting, central communication tasks, and expenses
  • Support the GYAC Grant Cycle
  • In collaboration with the GYAC Advisors, ensure adherence to the GYAC Constitution and Youth Code of Conduct.

Other Responsibilities

  • Assist with other organizational initiatives as assigned

Skills and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in program coordination, nonprofit administration, grants administration support, or a related field.
  • Self- directed with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting committees, boards, advisory groups, or volunteer leadership bodies.
  • Familiarity with grantmaking, philanthropy, or community foundation operations.
  • Experience working with project management, CRM, or grants management systems.
  • Experience working with high school and/or postsecondary students and education systems

Compensation, Benefits, and Workplace

  • This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position estimated to be 25 hours per week, with the potential to become a full-time position.
  • Compensation is expected to be $22-$25 per hour based on skills and experience.
  • Office hours are typically Monday-Thursday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM and Friday 9:00 AM-1:00 PM.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) includes
    • 6 paid holidays (pro-rated for part-time employees)
    • Additional bonus holidays at the discretion of the President & CEO
    • PTO accrued at a prorated amount equal to the number of hours worked. (25 hours worked = 71% of full time PTO based on years of employment)
