GACF is pleased to announce an addition to the Education Foundation of Greenville (EFG) family of funds. Recognizing the increasing pressures the youth of our community are facing resulting in high levels of mental health concerns, the new EFG Wellness and Mental Health Fund was established to provide financial assistance for activities and supports that will enhance the physical and mental well-being of any individual student or groups of students of Greenville Public Schools. The priority of the funds will be for the sustainability and ongoing support of comfort dogs within the school system. Additional needs will be identified by the professional staff of the school district and will focus on meeting the physical and mental health needs of students that will ensure their success in school. This would include providing funds for counseling and outside therapy such as mindfulness, movement, art, music, and equine-assisted therapy along with camps that provide some type of mental health support.
The Education Foundation of Greenville was founded in 1991 to generate and distribute financial resources for Greenville Public Schools to enhance, or supplement, educational opportunities for students. The EFG Wellness and Mental Health Fund joins the EFG Academic Enhancement Fund, the EFG Athletics Fund, the EFG Bill Braman Scholarship Fund, and EFG Performing Arts Fund held by GACF, as well as the Byron & Dolores Cook Endowment for Music Fund and the Byron & Dee Cook Holiday Concert Fund.
