Angela and Arlene Giglio were twin sisters, the youngest of 11 children born and raised in Greenville. In their early years, they were students at St. Charles Elementary. Later in life, as active community members, they were weekly volunteers at St. Charles school and church.

“They valued their Catholic faith and family above all else. They welcomed everyone they met, like family and were firm believers in giving back to their community,” shared Laura Amidon, a close friend and neighbor.

When the sisters passed, they left everything in their estate to St. Charles School. To honor their legacy of giving, the Angela & Arlene Giglio St. Charles School Tuition Fund was established in their memory. The endowment provides grants to St. Charles School for tuition assistance. “We like to think that they are smiling down on their beloved school and are grateful that they are assisting so many others in attending,” Amidon said, “GACF is such a wonderful steward of these funds and it brings us great peace to know that (Angela and Arlene’s) hard work will impact generations to come.

Today the fund is truly making a difference in the lives of students and families. Recently, a local family expressed interest in providing their children with a Catholic education at St. Charles but had concerns about the financial burden. The fund eliminated that barrier, allowing them to enroll their children at the school “Angela and Arlene always believed in the importance of Catholic education and have created a remarkable opportunity for families to experience an education at St. Charles School, the school these wonderful ladies cherished,” shared Tonya Saladin, St Charles School Principal, “Their commitment to our mission is truly inspiring and will benefit students and families in our community for many years to come.”

As GACF celebrates its 35th anniversary, we bring together the collective stories of donors, nonprofits, students, and community members to demonstrate the power of philanthropy in creating lasting impact and a stronger future.
