Green forests, romping wildlife, a snow-cover terrain, the freshwater shores- for Jim and Kim Vandenberg, this West Michigan setting feels like home. A formidable duo since 1981, their journey together began in Michigan, then for 25+ years they lived and worked in California. Jim pursued several careers- skilled nursing facility administrator, custom home builder, software development- retiring as a Senior Systems Analyst for Delta Dental. Kim was a Project Manager for Intel Corporation, retiring from that career in 2015.
In retirement, they returned home to Michigan and decided to write the next chapter of their story- a charitable legacy honored through a new fund at the Greenville Area Community Foundation. They had a vision to support local skilled trades and technology programs, ensuring their continuation and enhancing the quality of those programs. It was also important to them to help build positive public perception toward careers in the trades. The new James S. and Kimberly K. Vandenberg Skilled Trades and Technology Fund has transformed their vision into a permanent source of community support for generations to come. The fund will initially support programs at Greenville High School and Belding High School.
Planned giving offered Jim and Kim Vandenberg a way to write their story. By establishing a bequest with GACF, they join the esteemed Tower Legacy Society, a philanthropic opportunity for donors wanting to craft a personal giving plan for lasting impact.
